COMPARED WITH THE NIGERIAN LMS
They teach the course well. Both ends of the chain are still yours.
Learnhub 365, Cleanscript, Gopius: the platforms built to host and deliver a course for a Nigerian audience. Learnhub 365 publishes the fullest list — cohorts and batches, Zoom and Meet for live classes, assessments, quizzes, assignments and grading, automated certificates, naira payments. Everything a cohort needs between the fee and the certificate.
WHERE EACH TOOL STOPS
Strong in the middle. Empty at the ends.
Drawn from what these platforms publish, and drawn generously: where one of them states a capability, the category is shown as covering it. What is missing is missing from all of them.
The Nigerian LMS: Apply to Admit, not published; Pay to Assessed by staff, in Enrolment, lessons, live classes, assignments and grading; Credential, in Automated certificates; Employer verifies, not published. Alethris: Apply to Employer verifies, in One record per learner.
THE JOINS
Delivery is solved. Selection and proof are not.
Three places where the work leaves the platform and comes back to you.
A learner appears already enrolled. Whoever applied, whoever was turned down and why happened in a form and a spreadsheet, so the intake you selected is not part of the record of the cohort you ran.
An application form on your own page, a queue with every applicant's answers, a decision recorded against a named member of staff, and a place confirmed when the offer is accepted or its fee is paid.
Grading says how well somebody did. It does not say which competency was demonstrated, what evidence showed it, or which member of staff stood behind the judgement — so a result that is questioned later cannot be answered from the record.
Rubrics whose criteria are tied to competencies, assessment signed by the assessor assigned to the work, revision requests the learner sees, and corrections that keep the assessment they replaced.
The chain ends at the certificate. The person who has to trust it is outside the platform, holding a PDF with nothing to check it against.
A verification page for every credential: issuer, programme, status, assessment method and the competencies the academy approved, honest about revocation, and a Skills Passport the learner carries between academies.
SIDE BY SIDE
Where the two actually differ.
Most of a course platform's feature list is in both columns. These are the rows that are not.
| THE NIGERIAN LMS | ALETHRIS | |
|---|---|---|
| Cohorts and live classes | Cohorts and batches, with Zoom and Meet | Sessions with a schedule and a register |
| Assignments and grading | Assessments, quizzes, assignments and grading | Rubric assessment, signed by its assessor |
| An application and an admission decision | — | On the record, with its author |
| Who attended which session | — | A register for every session |
| What a result evidences | A mark | The competencies it demonstrated, with the evidence |
| A revision before a final result | — | Revision requests, with attempts the learner can see |
| Certificates | Automated | Issued from a completed record |
| Whether an employer can check one | — | A public verification page |
| Money you collected outside the platform | — | Recorded against the learner, with no fee |
| Reducing what a learner pays | — | A code on the application, or an automatic offer for a window, with caps and a price floor |
| What the learner keeps across academies | — | A Skills Passport they control |
WHAT IT COSTS
Both charge a plan. The difference is what happens to money you collect yourself.
No figures here, on either side: these move, and an argument built on today's number would be wrong the week it changes.
| THE NIGERIAN LMS | ALETHRIS | |
|---|---|---|
| Each month | A plan | A plan, by the size of your academy |
| How a learner can pay | One-time purchases and memberships, in naira | Card, Pay with Transfer, a bank transfer your staff confirm, or a sponsor |
| When you collect the money yourself | — | Recorded, with no fee |
| Certificates | Automated, inside the plan | Inside the plan's allowance |
| AI assistance | — | Prepaid credits, bought separately |
Read the lists, not the summaries
When one of these is the right answer
- What you need is delivery: video, modules, live classes and a mark at the end. That is exactly what they are built for, and they do it.
- You teach exam preparation or short courses. Nobody outside your academy is ever going to check a certificate.
- You want one instructor's account rather than a staff workspace where different people hold different authority.
- You already run one and it works. A platform your team knows beats a better one nobody has set up yet.
This is a real category doing a real job. Alethris is a heavier thing to run, and it earns that weight only when a result has to mean something to somebody outside the room.
MOVING
Move the programme that has to prove something.
Not the catalogue. The one cohort whose result somebody outside your academy will rely on.
ONE
Pick the cohort with an employer at the end of it
If a learner will show the outcome to somebody who has to trust it, that is the cohort to move first.
TWO
Your curriculum comes with you
Give the Course Builder the syllabus you already teach and it drafts the modules, lessons and outcomes for you to correct.
THREE
Leave the short courses where they are
Exam prep and one-off classes do not need admissions, rubrics or verification. There is no reason to move them.
FOUR
Keep collecting money the way you do
Record every payment against the learner, whoever collected it, and turn on card collection only when you want to.
The question is who has to believe the result.
If it is only the learner, delivery is the whole job and these platforms do it. If it is an employer, a funder or a regulator, the result needs a record behind it that was built while the cohort ran.
