COMPARED WITH TRAINING MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
The closest thing to this, built and priced for somewhere else.
Arlo and Administrate run commercial training at volume: course scheduling with venues, rooms and presenters, registration and checkout, invoices and credit notes, a CRM, attendance from an instructor's phone, quizzes and assignments with grading, certificates and a learner portal. On features this is the nearest neighbour Alethris has.
WHERE EACH TOOL STOPS
Almost the whole chain. Two ends, and a different continent.
Drawn from what Arlo publishes. This is the most generous rail on the site, because it is earned: the gaps are narrow and specific.
Training management: Apply, in Registration; Admit, not published; Pay to Credential, in Payments, invoicing, scheduling, attendance, assignments and certificates; Employer verifies, not published. Alethris: Apply to Employer verifies, in One record per learner.
THE JOINS
The gaps are narrow. That does not make them small.
Registration is not admission, and a certificate is not a credential somebody can check.
A booking system takes whoever books, and it is right to: commercial training sells seats. An academy that selects an intake, sets a prerequisite or turns people down is doing something a checkout cannot record, and cannot defend later from the booking.
An application with every answer, a queue, a decision recorded against a named member of staff, and a place confirmed when the offer is accepted or its fee is paid.
Assignments are graded and the mark is kept. Which competency the work demonstrated, what evidence showed it, and which member of staff is answerable for the judgement are a layer underneath the mark, and it is not there.
Rubric criteria tied to the competencies they evidence, an assessment signed by its assessor, revision requests the learner sees, and corrections that keep the assessment they replaced.
The certificate is issued and the learner has it. The person who has to trust it is outside the system, with no address to check it at and no way to see that it was revoked.
A verification page carrying the issuer, programme, status, assessment method and approved competencies, and a Skills Passport the learner carries between academies.
The charging model assumes administrator licences and a fee on every registration, quoted in a foreign currency. An academy running two cohorts a year in naira is paying a shape of bill designed for a different business.
A naira plan by the size of your academy, a share only of money Alethris collected, and nothing at all on money you collect yourself.
SIDE BY SIDE
Where the nearest neighbour is still not the same thing.
Most of the feature list matches, and in scheduling and invoicing theirs is deeper. These are the rows where they diverge.
| ARLO / ADMINISTRATE | ALETHRIS | |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduling venues, rooms and presenters | Built in, and deeper than this | Sessions with a schedule, no venue management |
| Invoices and credit notes | Built in | Receipts and an earnings ledger |
| Attendance | From an instructor's phone | A register for every session |
| Assignments and grading | Quizzes, assignments and grading | Rubrics with performance levels |
| An application and an admission decision | — | On the record, with its author |
| Who stands behind a result | — | The named assessor, on the assessment |
| Which competencies were demonstrated | — | Recorded, with the evidence |
| Whether an employer can check a certificate | — | A public verification page |
| A bank transfer confirmed before it counts | — | Staff record it, and an owner or finance admin confirms it |
| A sponsor paying for a place | Invoice an organisation | A commitment on the learner's record |
| Reducing what a learner pays | Early-bird, member and bulk discounts, and promotional codes | A code on the application, or an automatic offer for a window, with caps and a price floor |
WHAT IT COSTS
Administrator licences and a fee per registration, or a plan.
The shapes are genuinely different, and one of them suits a provider running hundreds of public courses a year.
| ARLO / ADMINISTRATE | ALETHRIS | |
|---|---|---|
| Each month | Administrator licences, by tier | A plan, by the size of your academy |
| Per registration | A fee for each paid and each free registration | Nothing |
| Quoted in | Dollars | Naira |
| Taking money from learners | Checkout and invoicing | Card, Pay with Transfer, evidence, or a sponsor |
| When you collect the money yourself | The registration fee still applies | Nothing |
Work out which kind of provider you are
When training management software is the right answer
- You run public courses at volume and the hard problem is the calendar: venues, rooms, presenters and clashes.
- You invoice companies rather than learners, and need credit notes, purchase orders and accounts receivable.
- Your business is in the UK, Europe, North America or Australia, where the pricing and the support hours were designed.
- Nobody has ever asked you to prove what a delegate can do — they asked for a register and an invoice.
Arlo in particular does more of this chain than anything else on the site. If the gaps above are not gaps you feel, it is a serious product and worth the look.
MOVING
The case for moving is proof, not features.
You will not find a long list of things Arlo cannot do. You will find one thing it was not built to produce.
ONE
Keep the scheduling if scheduling is your problem
Venue and presenter management is deeper there, and Alethris has nothing to replace it with.
TWO
Bring the programme that ends in a claim
The cohort where a learner walks away saying they can do something, and somebody outside has to believe it.
THREE
Check the currency before the features
If you are earning naira, a dollar licence plus a fee per registration is a different bill from a naira plan. Work yours out on both pricing pages.
FOUR
Collect the way your learners pay
Card, Pay with Transfer, a bank transfer your staff confirm, or a sponsor covering a place.
This is the comparison we would want read most carefully.
On features it is close, and on scheduling and invoicing they are ahead. The difference is admission, evidence, verification and the currency the bill arrives in. If those four do not matter to you, buy theirs.
